Our Washington store is in the middle of a residential neighborhood and we’re part of the community—so we help them get going on Saturday mornings. The Commerce building and KU Med locations are in buildings that close on weekends, so we do, too.
Is Spokes open on holidays?
Nope. Spokes Coffee | Café is closed on holidays so our folks can take time off and hang out with family and friends.
How do I order online from Spokes Coffee | Café?
Go to “Order Pickup for You” to order online from Spokes. Choose the location closest to you and when you get here, skip the line—just grab your order from the shelves by the door. You can schedule your order for “ASAP” if you’re on your way out the door or for later if you want to make sure it’s ready at a certain time.
Can I order Spokes food and drinks for delivery?
We don’t do delivery. The major services (Door Dash, Grub Hub, UberEats, etc.) take big percentages from the little guys and we don’t get the breaks national chains do. We’re super flattered that people would like to have our food driven across town, but it just doesn’t make a lot of business sense for us.
How long does it take to get breakfast or lunch at Spokes Coffee | Café?
Our goal is to get breakfast and lunch orders out in 10 minutes or less.
Now, we can’t control the how many customers walk through the door—but we’re set up to be efficient at the register, the espresso machine, and in the kitchen. So whether you’re eating here or taking your order with you, we want to get it to you quickly.
Do you have a loyalty or rewards program for Spokes customers?
Yes—we reward our regular Spokes customers for their loyalty. We have an espresso and drip coffee rewards program that gives you every 10th drink free—so basically, all of your drinks are 10% off if you use the punch card.
Does Spokes sell gift cards?
Yes. You can order a Spokes gift card in any of our cafés or online. (This is especially handy when you suddenly realize it’s your coworker’s anniversary, a neighbor’s birthday, Boss’s Day, Administrative Professionals Day…or any other occasion that calls for a last-minute gift. We can send by email or text to you or the lucky recipient.
Is Spokes laptop friendly?
Spokes sure is laptop friendly. We have lots of outlets, and we encourage people to hang out with us all day. We’ll even watch your stuff for you when you go to the restroom.
Which Spokes location is best for studying or working?
The Spokes on Washington Street is our biggest café, so there are usually plenty of tables and bar space to work or co-work from. The lighting is good, the playlists are chill, and the seating is plentiful.
Can I reserve a table at Spokes for my work team or study group?
Absolutely—let us know you’re bringing a study group, work team, or club to Spokes, and we’ll reserve a table or some couch spaces for you.
We’ve even had regulars ask us to hold a regular spot for them to meet up every week. The MS Society has a captain's meeting every year—they hold office hours at Spokes. One of our regulars passed her architectural boards after studying here for six hours every Saturday for a year. (Congrats, Sabrina!)
Can I bring MY DOG to Spokes?
The health department says no dogs are allowed in licensed Kansas City restaurants—otherwise, my dogs would basically live here. Well-behaved pets are welcome to join when our outdoor seating is available.
And service animals are always welcome.
Can I bring outside food to Spokes?
No.
Didn’t Spokes used to be a bike shop?
Yep. When we first opened, we fixed and sold bikes. But COVID happened and two bike shops opened within a mile of us because suddenly everyone was cycling. Plus our catering business grew exponentially.
We were friends with the folks who opened West Bottoms Bicycles, so they bought all our equipment—and we used the space to do 60–70 catering jobs a week.
Want to know the best mechanics and bike shops in town? We can still hook you up.
